Meet the Author -- Dave Ebert

Thursday, February 22, 2018 - 7:30pm to Friday, February 23, 2018 - 8:45pm

Finding a new shark species requires a deep dive into inaccessible, often unexplored waters. Professor Dave Ebert, a world-renowned shark expert and Program Director of the Pacific Shark Research Center at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, takes the plunge often and with enthusiasm. Across six continents and in over 25 countries, Dr. Ebert has discovered over 60 shark species, previously unknown to the public and to scientific and conservation communities.

Dr. Ebert will speak about his passion for ‘lost sharks’ as part of the Friends’ Meet the Author series on February 22, 2018, at the Pacific Grove Public Library.  Doors open at 7:20, and the program begins at 7:30.  Admission is free for members of the Friends; a donation of $10 is requested of non-members.

Whether he is working with the BBC or the Discovery Channel to study Lost Sharks, tagging megamouth sharks in frigid waters, or having dinner with the Emperor of Japan, Dr. Ebert encourages audiences around the world to explore their own “lost sharks”—the passions that drive them. He is the author of 28 books, including the popular field guide Sharks of the World, and its shorter companion A Pocket Guide to Sharks of the World.  The Pocket Guide will be available for sale at the event and Dr. Ebert will autograph copies.
