The next Friends of the Pacific Grove Library Meet the Author Series event is  Dr. Renee R. Curry talking about the works of author Jesmyn Ward.

Let Dr. Renee R. Curry take you into the imagination of National Book Award-Winner and MacArthur Genius, Jesmyn Ward.  In her novels: Sing, Unburied Sing, Salvage the Bones, and Where the Line Bleeds, Jesmyn Ward creates a fictional Gulf Coast Mississippi town, Bois Sauvage, wherein African-Americans live, struggle, love, and contend with achievement of the American Dream.  Dr. Curry will expand readers' knowledge of this incredible writer and her unforgettable characters.

Renee R. Curry is Professor of Literature in the School of Human Communication at CSUMB; former Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at CSUMB; and, former Professor of Literature at California State University San Marcos. She has published and edited three books as well as numerous articles and reviews on literature and film. Curry also teaches literature and film studies for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at CSUMB, and she teaches literature courses at the Carmel Valley Manor.
