The Pacific Grove Public Library is open six days a week, and online, but fewer teens (ages 12 to 18) have returned after pandemic closures. Since 2020 more teens report suffering from isolation and stress; studies show that meaningful connections with trusted adults help teens grow and thrive.
To reach the 1,000+ teens in PG, the Friends of the PG Library will support year-round, teen directed art, academic, workforce, health and wellness programming, dynamic books and online resources, and inter-generational opportunities to volunteer at the Library.
Library staff members are energized about building on 2022 teen summer reading program momentum, which included a painting and planting program, yoga, poetry workshop, and anime and manga meetups. Local businesses want to continue collaborating with the Library to support local teens; teen volunteers have come up with great ideas! Donors to Monterey County Gives! will help the Friends make them happen!
